7 Golden Rules for first time Leaders

"Leadership is for everyone."
It is rightly said. As one starts a career in any field, they are always aiming to be a leader in the field. As one gains experience, he needs to add-on from being a doer to one who can guide others in getting things done.

Widely there are few myths associated with leadership
Myth 1: It's is a born talent. Everyone cannot be a leader
Truth: Everyone can be a leader. It's not a born talent. It’s a muscle that is built as you practice 

Myth 2: Leadership is all about authority.
Truth: Leadership is all about being a catalyst 

Myth 3: Leadership is a given responsibility
Truth: Leader is an attained responsibility. You demonstrate the leadership and you are given it.

For some, this comes as a gift for their hard work done. When you are given to do it, remember it’s not the job for taming a tiger instead it's about winning someone's love 

As a leader, you are responsible for building the next level who can work delivery independently. It’s a muscle that needs to be trained to be built. It needs empathy, patience and more importantly understanding the viewpoint and not react to observations. 

These are seven golden rules that can get you to move on to lead the team forward 

1. Plan your day first. What you cannot do you cannot inspire others to do 

2. Start your day at least an hour early than your team
3. When assigning work to your team always tell them
  • Why they need to do
  • What they need to do
  • What is it looks like if the work is done
4. You cannot teach, what you don’t know. Keep learning …

6. Give feedback
  • What's good
  • What needs to improve 
  • How to improve
7. Put up your hand and accept failure or success

Go into the future, imagine you have been a leader, and write down what you want to be remembered for. What will the generations to pass from you will recollect as a critical aspect of your leadership. Write them down, "Now". The things you write are your measurement metrics.
Write that every possible thing you want to be remembered which will create you a remarkable leader.
